D ecluttering is possible for anything, whether it is your phone or your bedroom.

The task of decluttering the house, once started might feel overwhelming, but when the result is a peaceful and clear environment that is enjoyable is worth it. Having a chaotic space at home has been shown to lead to a negative impact on our physical and mental health.

Whereas, when other messes are not physical, such as on phones. Digital messes such as those tend to lead to a chaotic calendar or even lack of space that makes people feel overwhelmed and stressed.

Closet Decluttering

Donate

This is when you go through the closet and make separate piles. The keeping pile and a pile of clothes and accessories that have not been worn in over 3 months. This does not include clothes that are for a specific season. Toss out or donate the pile of clothes that have not been worn for over 3 months.

Season Separation

Finding an area in the house that is specifically for storage can be hard. This is where having proper storage bins or utilizing space under the bed comes in handy. Make separate piles of summer and winter clothes and switch out wardrobes as the seasons come.

Pre-Planned Outfits

Having ready-to-go outfits for daily wear can go a long way in saving time. They come in handy on rushed mornings and help in keeping track of things in the closet. This also helps in saving more money than realized as impulse shopping is reduced.

Digital Decluttering

Cloud Back-Up

Using cloud storage helps in making space on the phone for more things. Having a backup of the memories helps in reducing stress when the device eventually crashes. Taking time to store on iCloud can go a long way in saving memory and battery on your phone.

Digital Cleanse

Delete the apps that were downloaded on impulse and used once months ago. Delete all the blurry selfies, conversations, and saved pictures from the internet that will never be of any use or have any meaning.

Organizing

Organizing a phone can go a long way in reducing screen time. Having folders for apps based on the needs, such as a folder for social media apps helps in keeping things organized and far easier to find.

Household Declutter

Storing Seasonal

Store items in the house based on need. Using the storage area for keeping the thicker blankets or heaters that are needed only during the winter area, keeps the areas in the house clutter-free. The same can be said about kitchenware that is used for specific types of guests.

Tossing the Trash

Go through the house with a trash bag and toss out anything that is taking up space it should not. This includes broken plates, old cosmetics, and empty bottles that are just gathering taking space. If any of it can be recycled or even donated making a separate pile of it and sort through it. Once this is done room by room, the pile of trash gathered will be shocking.

Expiry Dates

Over time expired items do tend to pile up in the house and are more than one realizes. Check all items that come with an expiry date from kitchen products to bathroom items, and even old medicines and freezer products. Toss everything unsafe to use any longer or has expired.

Office Space Declutter

Going Online

Choosing to go paperless helps make an office more organized. Getting e-statements inside of physical folders to keep them compiled helps to be able to find them when needed easier. If hard copies of documents are not needed, scan and keep them on the computer with a backup instead of letting them take space in the cabinet drawers.

Recycling

Collect everything that is no longer needed, such as old outdated documents or empty pens and boxes of items that are of no use. Throw them out. Shred the documents with sensitive information and toss it all out.

Storage and Organizing

Making storage space in an office area is not as hard as it might sound. Having simple items such as cups for keeping pens in one place or a rack with folders and sections helps keep important things organized and clean. Knowing how to declutter your life is easier than it sounds.
