A dvertisements act as a major marketing source for companies to reach their target audience and create a lasting impact on the consumers. Some of the best ads ever made are ones in which brands have invested a lot of money to make their commercials by hiring famous celebrities and big creative/marketing agencies to come up with unique and creative ideas.

Here we have a list of the top 5 best ads ever made guaranteed to give you a trip down memory lane!

Coca Cola’s Meet Joe Green Ad

In 1979, Coca Cola paired up with Joe Green, an NFL star, for their commercial that won over the hearts of Americans with this advertisement becoming one of the Super Bowl’s most famous ads. This ad shows a very soft side to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ former defensive tackle where he is shown to be limping and feeling very down after a game, and a young boy approaches him wholeheartedly to share his Coke bottle telling him he thinks he’s the best ever. This act touches the player’s heart so much that as the child is walking away, he calls out to him and throws his jersey saying “Hey Kid, Catch!”. This advertisement ends with a tagline: Have a Coke and a smile.

Always’s #LikeAGirl Campaign

In 2015, Always came out with their #LikeaGirl advertisement, which aired at the Super Bowl after which it went viral, making us all teary-eyed. The purpose of this Ad was to talk about how the phrase “Like a Girl” has a negative connotation attached to it, which makes doing anything as a girl sound shameful. The ad starts with asking young women, a man, and a young boy what doing certain activities like fighting or running like a girl means, and then they ask the same questions to young girls. The difference can be seen where young girls don’t give any meaning to the “like a girl” bit whereas the adults mellow all the actions down, making their actions more “feminine”. This goes to show how these things are learned over time and phrases like these undermine women, hampering the development of young girls as they are growing up.

Australian Metro Train’s Dumb Ways To Die Ad

In 2012, Metro Trains in Australia, particularly in the city of Melbourne, wanted to send out a message to be safe around trains. Their creative way of approaching this message was to create a song out of it, listing numerous ridiculous scenarios which could lead to death such as setting fire to your head, teaching yourself how to fly, and using a closed dryer as a hiding space followed by a melody which goes “dumb ways to die”.

The music video comes to an end with ‘dumbest ways to die’ catering to being safe around trains. Here they show how standing on the edge of a train station platform, driving around the time when a train is crossing, and running around between the tracks on a platform are the dumbest ways to die out of all the scenarios. Through this, since its debut, they managed to attract over 157 million views with the song also being available on Spotify and iTunes, definitely making it to the list of best ads ever made.

KFC’s Apology Advertisement

In 2018, something extremely nonsensical happened: KFC ran out of chicken. This was of course a very embarrassing situation for them, which meant an apology was incoming. KFC decided to bring out an advertisement that was a page long in Metro Newspaper in collaboration with a creative agency called Mother London. This ad used the creative wordplay opportunity they had to its max where the ‘KFC’ initials were rearranged to spell “FCK” on an empty KFC bucket as if they were trying to say “oh crap, we messed up”. This was a brilliant advertisement that was both hilarious and apologetic where the company was able to get back up from a negative event in the most graceful way.

Snickers’ Betty White Commercial

All of us know by now that SuperBowl has some of the best commercial debuts with Snickers’ Betty White advertisement being the same. It features the adored Betty White who plays the role of an alter ego of a football player who is having a hard time playing the game until he is handed a snickers bar mid-game and turns back into his young self. This ad matched really well with the Snickers’ tagline “You are not yourself when you are hungry”.

And there you have it, the best ads ever made in history!
