A ll movie geeks will agree on one thing: nothing can replace classic fairy tales that bring back nostalgia from our childhood. These stories that we continue to watch in our adulthood are a great way to relive our childhood even for a moment. However, animated fairy tales have become a thing of the past, and a newer trend in the industry for retelling our childhood stories has emerged. So, we have brought some of the best live-action remakes of all time for Disney fans.

But before we begin, here are a few things you should know. When there is a new remake of any animation that is going to be announced, they are usually made from famous movies that are loved by people already. These movies are ones that people hold close to their hearts with some even turning into comfort movies.

Furthermore, finding actors that can live up to the screen’s expectations is yet another struggle that directors and producers of live-action remakes have to go through. Nevertheless, let’s pick up from where we left off.

Beauty And The Beast

Beauty and the Beast is an amazing journey of Belle -a gorgeous, young, and independent woman- imprisoned by a Beast in his castle. The characters in the live-action remake are played by Emma Watson [Belle] and Dan Stevens [Beast].

The bright young girl Belle becomes quick friends with the enchanted castle staff including:

  • A footman who turns into candelabra -Lumiere
  • A aid who becomes feather-duster -Plumette
  • Majordomo takes the shape of a mantel clock -Cogsworth
  • The housekeeper Mrs. Potts turns into a literal teapot
  • Mrs. Potts’ son Chip, a teacup

Mulan

Mulan is yet another Disney movie that is regarded as one of the best live-action remakes of all time. The movie made history when it got selected for various awards. Although it is a recent movie remake from the ‘90s unlike the rest that is taken either from the '50s or '60s, the movie had a high bar and it lived up to the standards.

It is a story of a beautiful, young, and ambitious Asian girl Mulan. According to the sources, Disney’s producers took their sweet time and conducted extensive research across the world for the cast. They wanted to hire a Chinese woman who can reach their expectations. Not only that, they wanted someone who could speak English, had Chinese origins with credible martial arts skills, and Liu Yifei -a Chinese-American actress- seemed to tick all the boxes for them.

Cinderella

Cinderella, deemed as the most iconic fairy tale of all times, was brought to animation by Disney back in 1950. It maintained its position as one of the best films by the animation studio. The story never gets old although it has been retold countless times. Everyone loved the 2015 version brought by Disney.

The new version starred amazing actors including Lily James and Richard Madden. While real-life Cinderella and Prince Charming were appreciated by everyone, Cate Blanchett stole the show and everyone’s heart by playing Lady Tremaine.

Alice In Wonderland

Nothing beats the classic old tale of a girl getting lost in a new, strange, enchanted world. Everyone’s favorite classic Disney movie, Alice in Wonderland is deemed to be the most difficult movie to remake. Thanks to brilliant Director Tim Burton, and iconic actors like Johnny Depp who played The Mad Hatter, the execution was a success at the box office.

Keeping up with the same trippy visuals, stimulating colors, magical interaction, and bizarre things from the 1951 cartoon, the movie was loved by both children and adults.

Aladdin

Aladdin is one of the most interesting live-action remakes since it is a story of a Middle-Eastern boy named Aladdin who ends up with a magical genie and a flying carpet. In his pursuit of marrying Jasmine, the princess of Agrabah, the boy lives several lies and magically becomes a Prince.

Aladdin had a lot of expectations from the audience after knowing the fact that Will Smith was taking over Genie replacing a legendary actor Robin Williams. Thankfully, it won everyone’s heart and the actors lived up to the expectations of many.

So, we have shared with you the best live-action remakes of all time in this post. As you have observed, Disney has been a popular market for recreating live-action remakes for decades. Take Cindrella, Maleficent, Peter Pan, Beauty and The Beast, and many other movies for example. They were all box office hits and everyone loved it.
