Made in 1997, developed by Square, Final Fantasy VII is a role-playing game and is the seventh installment of the Final Fantasy video game series. It's about a mercenary who joins an eco-terrorist organization to take down an evil megacorporation. This game was the first in the series to use full-motion video and 3D computer graphics. With all this, Final Fantasy VII made 9.8 million sales with the help of a huge promotional campaign. It was praised for its graphics, music, storyline, and more. After this, in 1999, Final Fantasy VIII was released and also did very well making 7 million sales.
Gran Turismo was released towards the end of 1997 developed by Polyphony Digital. Gran Turismo is a racing game in which a player must play against AI on various racing tracks. There are 2 modes; arcade mode and simulation mode. In an arcade, the player can freely choose which racetrack to race on and in simulation, mode players must accumulate points to unlock certain tracks and such. It took a total of 5 years to develop this game so it was a relief to the developers that it was received well.
