A s humans, we tend to get injured quite a lot- no matter where we are. In 2019, the World Health Organization stated how more than 3 million people died from preventable injuries worldwide. This proves how a well-stocked first aid kit is handy to have on you at all times. Besides knowing what to put in your first aid kit, you should also try to keep it beside you at all times. Although most people keep these kits at home, they tend to forget to keep them in their car. Always being prepared for an emergency will help you respond effectively to any injuries with ease and calm.

If you don't know what to put in your first aid kit, there's no need to worry. To make your job easier for you, we have compiled every essential item you will need.

Adhesive Bandages Or Tape

Adhesive tape is a very versatile tool used in medical emergencies. It is a thin textile strip that is very sticky at the bottom to place on your wound easily. Keeping this in your first aid kit is crucial as it will keep your scab clear of any damaging dirt or bacteria which could worsen the situation.

Eye Shield or Patch

Most people do not think eye pads are necessary to keep in their first aid kit, but we believe otherwise. An eye pad helps the light to stay out of a sensitive eye. It is usually held in place over your eye by an elastic strap that goes behind your head.

Plastic Gloves

We've seen doctors use gloves time and time again when treating an injury. Why should we not do the same? Wearing gloves creates a barrier between the germs and your hands. This reduces the risk of infection and cross-contamination. They also keep your hands safe from cuts and abrasions after accidents or other open-wound injuries.

Hand Sanitizer

Amidst this pandemic, we have all realized the importance of hand sanitizers. However, they aren't only beneficial in keeping us safe from covid; they're also helpful to keep in your first aid kit. Alcohol-based sanitizers help you fight infections and reduce the count of bacteria on your hand- so you can efficiently deal with any problems.

Antiseptic Solution And Towels

When there's no clean water nearby, the only thing you can rely on is antiseptic solutions and towels. Before bandaging, you'll have to clean the minor cuts and scrapes. The antiseptic solution is perfect as it eases the pain from skin irritations. It indeed stings a little, but it's better than letting the wound sit out!

Thermometer

Measuring body temperature- we all know how crucial that is. Whether your body starts heating up for no reason or you get a high fever, the first thing you do is use a thermometer. There are many different thermometers, but keeping one oral digital thermometer would be your best bet.

Eyewash

While driving, many dust particles enter your eye and start to irritate it. To soothe the discomfort, you can use a saline eyewash to help clear the foreign particles out. It will rinse out your eye and leave it feeling a lot better.

Scissors

Bandages are important, but how will you cut them without any scissors? Scissors are ideal for cutting bandages to fit the size of the wound and removing dressings so the bandages can be replaced. Even if you don't have a bandage, scissors can help cut up clothes to cover the injury so you don't lose blood and an infection doesn't start.

 Tweezers

Are you someone who's very adventurous and likes hiking or mountain climbing? If so, you should always keep a pair of tweezers on hand. Tweezers are tools you can use to pick up tiny things with. Therefore, the safest way to remove a splinter is by using a clean pair of tweezers.
